Sundar Pichai CEO of Google
Pichai was born on 10 June 1972 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. His mother Lakshmi was a stenographer and his father Regunath Pichai was an electrical engineer at the British conglomerate GEC. Pichai Sundararajan, better known as Sundar Pichai, is an Indian-American business executive. That’s Alphabet Inc. and the chief executive officer of its subsidiary Google.
Pichai started his career as a materials engineer. After a short stint at technology consulting firm McKinsey & Company, Pichai joined Google in 2004. Where he led the product management and innovation efforts of a suite of Google stock laptops, including Google Chrome and Chrome OS, and was also largely responsible for Google Drive. Additionally, he also sent Gmail and Google Maps for glimpses of development in other languages.
In 2010, Pichai also announced the open-sourcing of the new video codec VP8 by Google and the introduction of a new video format, WebM. The Chromebook was released in 2012. Pichai was selected as the next CEO of Google on August 10, 2015, before being appointed Chief Product Director by former CEO Larry Page.
On October 24, 2015, he founded Alpha Company Inc., a new holding for the Google family of companies. Stepped into the new position on completion of formation. He was appointed to the Alphabet board of directors in 2017.
In 2022, received the Padma Bhushan in the category of Trade and Industry from the Government of India, the country’s third-highest civilian award.
