Sanjay Manjrekar Indian Cricketer
Sanjay Vijay Manjrekar was born on 16 July 1965 in Mangalore. Sanjay Manjrekar is the son of Vijay Manjrekar, who played 55 Test matches for India between 1952 and 1965. As a schoolboy, he participated in the Cooch Behar Trophy between 1978 and 1982.
Manjrekar made his first-class debut on 7 March 1985, scoring 57 in his only innings for Bombay during a win over Haryana in the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals. They retained their place in the semi-finals but did not play again until the following season.
He performed consistently with the bat in 1985–86, averaging 42.40, although his highest score was 51 not out. Sanjay Manjrekar is a former Indian cricket player. Manjrekar used to play Test and One Day International cricket matches for the Indian team during his time. He played 37 Test matches and 74 ODI matches between 1987 and 1996.
During this period, Sanjay Manjrekar also participated in the ICC World Cup played in Australia-New Zealand in 1992 and the ICC World Cup played in India-Pakistan-Sri Lanka in 1996. After retiring from cricket, he started doing commentary. He is counted among the popular commentators of the country. After retiring from professional cricket, Manjrekar started working as a cricket commentator.
In April 2017, while commentating on the IPL match Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders, It was reported by Indian media that Manjrekar had called Pollard “brainless”. During the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Manjrekar criticized Ravindra Jadeja, calling him a ‘bits and pieces player’. In 2021, Manjrekar was shown in messages shared by Twitter users mocking his English.
