Revathi Indian Actress And Director
He started his career in 1983 with the Tamil film Mana Vasanai, for which he was awarded the Filmfare Special Award-South. In the same year, he debuted in the Malayalam film industry through Kattathe Kilikudu. She co-starred with Bharat Gopi, Mohanlal, Srividya, and Anju.
She was introduced to the Telugu film industry in the 1984 film Seethamma Pelli by directors Bapu and Manasa Veena. Revathi played the role of a blind, rape victim Sita in J Mahendran’s Kai Kodukkam Kai opposite Rajinikanth in Tamil.
Revathi was born Asha Kellunni in Cochin (present-day Kochi) to Malak Kellunni of Kalladikode, Palakkad, who was a Major in the Indian Army, and Lalitha Kellunni. Malayalam actress Geetha Vijayan is her cousin.
When she was in school she participated in a fashion show. The group was photographed during the show and one photo was chosen for the cover of a popular Tamil magazine. It was her picture that was seen by director Bharathiraja, who was then looking for a new heroine for his latest venture Mana Vasanai.
Revathi is associated with many social causes and organizations like Ability Foundation, Banyan, Tanker Foundation, and Vidyasagar.
Revathi’s talent transcends regional boundaries and she enthralled Hindi audiences with her performances in “Margarita with a Straw” (2014) and “2 States” (2014). Her notable Tamil films include “Pa Paandi” (2017) and “Jackpot” (2019), while her impactful role in the Malayalam film “Virus” (2019) showcased her continued excellence.
