Raiza Dhillon Paris Olympic 2024
Dhillon is a resident of Shamgarh in Karnal district of Haryana. His parents Ravijit Singh Dhillon and Gul Dhillon encouraged him to take up the sport at an early age. His family moved to Panchkula where his mother Gul introduced him to sports such as tennis and swimming as well as Bharatanatyam. However, the youngster decided to take up shooting at the age of 12 and wanted to shoot with bigger guns after seeing the 20-gun stock of her great-grandfather Jagirdar Gurinder Singh Dhillon, with whom she is quite familiar.
She attended coaching camps at the Gagan Narang Shooting Academy in Pune, but after choosing skeet as her favorite event, settled with coach Amrinder Singh Cheema, who is a friend of her father. Raiza Dhillon is an Indian sports shooter. She secured an Olympic quota for the Paris Olympics in the women’s skeet event by winning the gold medal at the Asian Shotgun Championships, an Asian Olympic qualifier event, in Kuwait City on 20 January 2024. With this, the number of Indian Olympic quotas also increased to 19. The quota won by a shooter is the quota for the country and federation, which can nominate any shooter for the Olympics as per the prescribed criteria. Raiza Dhillon, introduced to shooting by her father, is not very focused on winning a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Their main objective is to implement what they have learned.
