Prince Rogers Nelson was born on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, the son of jazz singer Mattie Della (née Shaw) and pianist and author John Lewis Nelson. His grandparents were from Louisiana. Prince Rogers Nelson was an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor. The recipient of numerous awards and nominations, he is considered one of the greatest composers in history.

He was known for his flamboyant, androgynous personality; His wide string range, including a far-reaching falsetto and scream; and his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, frequently playing all or most of the instruments on his recordings.

Their music covers a wide variety of genres including funk, R&B, rock, new wave, soul, synth-pop, pop, jazz, Blue Bees, and hip hop. Southee and Pale-born Prince are 19 years old in Minneapolis. They signed a recorded deal with Warner Bros. Records and soon released the studio albums For You (1978) and Prince (1979).

Estimates of the total number of patriarchs written by Prince range from 500 to 1, even more than the author. Some of these songs became popular after being covered by other musicians, including Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” and the Bangles’ “Manic Monday”.

Prince has sold at least 150 million copies worldwide, ranking him among the best-selling music artists of all time. These include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the UK LCD Hall of Fame in 2006, the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame in 2016, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2024.
