Michael Fassbender German-Irish Actor
Fassbender was born on 2 April 1977 in Heidelberg, then West Germany. His mother Adele is originally from Larne, Northern Ireland and his father Joseph Fassbender is German. He has an elder sister named Katherine, who is a neuropsychologist at the MIND Institute in Sacramento, California, United States.
Michael Fassbender is a German-Irish actor. He has been honored with numerous awards, including nominations for two Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. In 2020, he was ranked ninth in the Irish Times list of Ireland’s greatest film actors.
Born in Germany, Fassbender moved to Ireland at the age of two to a Northern Irish mother and German father. He made his feature film debut in 300 (2006). Early roles include the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers (2001) and the Sky One fantasy drama Hex (2004–2005).
Fassbender first rose to fame playing Bobby Sands in Hunger (2008), for which he won a British Independent Film Award. Subsequent roles included the 2009 films Fish Tank and Inglourious Basterds and the 2011 films Jane Eyre and A Dangerous Method.
Fassbender began competing in auto racing in 2017 with Ferrari Challenge. As of 2023, he races in the European Le Mans Series, driving for Proton Competition. He married Swedish actress Alicia Vikander in 2017.
