Mata Amritanandamayi Chancellor Of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
Mata Amritanandamayi Devi was born Sudhamani Idamnel in 1953 in the small village Parayakadavu (now sometimes known as Amritapuri) in Alappadha Panchayat in Kollam district, Kerala. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is a Hindu spiritual leader and guru, revered by her followers as a saint and also known as “Amma”, “Ammachi” or “Mother”. He is widely respected for his humanitarian activities.
She is sometimes referred to as the “lovingly embracing saint”. According to Swami Amrita Swaroopananda Puri, vice president of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, “It is as natural for Amma to relieve the suffering of others as it is to relieve her own suffering.” Wiping tears from her eyes she said, Amma’s happiness lies in the happiness of others.
Amma considers her security only in the security of others. Amma’s comfort lies in the comfort of others. This is Amma’s dream. And this is the dream to which Mother has dedicated her life to the awakening of humanity.
