Kansas City Chiefs American Football Team
The Kansas City Chiefs is a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1959 by businessman Lamar Hunt as the Dallas Texans and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In the spring of 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed its current name.
Following Hunt’s death in 2006, his wife, Norma, and children became the legal owners of the team. Following Norma’s death in 2023, Hunt’s children inherited her stake in the franchise. Clark Hunt, one of Hunt’s children, has served as chairman and CEO since 2006.
Despite being in two different divisions since their inception in 1960, the Bills and Chiefs have had several notable moments in NFL postseason history, most notably the 1966 AFL Championship Game, the 2021 AFC Divisional Playoff Game, and the 2024 AFC Divisional Playoff game.
