Joe Biden, 46th Current President of The United States
Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (born November 20, 1942) is an American politician who is the 46th and current president of the United States since 2021. President Biden represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate for 36 years before serving as the 47th President of the United States. As President, Biden will restore America’s leadership and better develop our group. President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the first of four children of Katherine Eugenia Finnegan Biden and Joseph Robinette Biden Sr. In 1953, the Biden family moved to Claymont, Delaware. President Biden graduated from the University of Delaware and Syracuse Law School and served on the New Castle County Council.
At the age of 29, President Biden became one of the youngest Americans elected to the United States Senate. Just weeks after his Senate election, a car accident killed his wife Neilia and daughter Naomi and seriously injured his sons Hunter and Beau. He was sworn into the U.S. Senate at his son’s hospital bedside and began commuting from Wilmington to Washington every day, first by car and then by train, to be with his family. In 1977, he married Jill Jacobs and in 1980, their family was complete with the birth of their daughter Ashley.
A leader in the Senate and the 47th Vice President of the United States
As Delaware’s senator for 36 years, then-Senator Biden played a leading role in addressing some of our nation’s most pressing domestic and international challenges, including authoring the Violence Against Women Act. As the opposition, he worked with President Obama to pass the Affordable Care Act, review the largest economic recovery plan in history, and strengthen American leadership on the world stage.
46th President of the United States
In 2020, President Biden ran for the White House to restore America’s soul, rebuild America’s backbone – the middle class, and unify the country. After being sworn in as the 46th president on January 20, 2021, he took quick action to vaccinate America and drive economic recovery, creating more jobs than any other president in four years. The President’s agenda is to invest in all Americans. His bipartisan infrastructure legislation is rebuilding our roads and bridges, removing lead pipes, and expanding high-speed internet access. Their Inflation Reduction Act is the largest investment in climate action in history. And his Chips and Science Act is creating cutting-edge technology in America with American workers.
President Biden came to office with a pledge to build an administration that looks like America – and he has done just that. He served as vice president to the nation’s first black president, and now serves as vice president to the nation’s first black female vice president. President Biden has been at the center of the great American story of expanding opportunity and making the promise of America real for all.
