Gopal Goyal Kanda Member of Legislative Assembly of Haryana

Gopal Goyal Kanda was born on 29 December 1965 in Syria, Haryana, India, where his father, Murli Dhar Kanda, was a lawyer. He had a former market occupation and his nickname was ‘Kanda’, which is used to describe people known as Iron Butts. Gopal Kanda is an MLA from Sirsa, Haryana, and has also been a minister in the Haryana government. He also runs an aviation company named MDLR Airlines.

He is facing trial in the case of the suicide of Geetika, an employee of this company. He also formed the Haryana Lokhit Party. Both this leader and his party got involved in Indian politics. Kanda was elected to the Haryana State Legislative Assembly as an independent representative from Sirsa constituency in 2009. He briefly served as a minister in the Government of Haryana before resigning from his post after legal charges were filed against him.

He later founded the Haryana Lokhit Party and unsuccessfully ran as a candidate in the 2014 state assembly elections. In 2019, he stood as a candidate for re-election. He was successful in his endeavor and is now the MLA of Sirsa. Sirsa Assembly constituency considered the stronghold of Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda, recorded 75.36% voting in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections. Voting took place in the northern state on October 5, while 65.65% of eligible voters in Haryana exercised their franchise, according to Election Commission data.
