Derrick Rose American Basketball Point Guard
Rose was born and raised in the Englewood area, one of the most dangerous neighborhoods on the South Side of Chicago. He is the youngest son of Brenda Rose after Dwayne, Reggie, and Alan. All three were baseball players and taught Rose the tricks of the trade at a nearby court.
Derrick Martell Rose is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played one year of college basketball for the Memphis Tigers before being selected first overall by his hometown Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Known as “D-Rose” and sometimes “The Windy City Assassin” or simply “Pooh”, he was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2009 and 2011. After 22 years. He became the youngest player to win an NBA title. Most Valuable Player Award at the age of 7 months.
For the 2019–20 season, the Detroit Pistons signed Rose to his first non-minimum salary contract since 2012. In July 2023, Rose signed for the Memphis Grizzlies in free agency, returning to the city where he spent his college years.
