Brian Guy Adams was born on November 5, 1959, in Kingston, Ontario, to Elizabeth Jane (née Watson) and Conrad J. Adams. Adams was born as a son. Adams William J. Adams, an English couple who immigrated to Canada from Plymouth, southwest England, in the 1950s.
One of his grandmothers and great-grandmothers was from Floriana, Malta. His father, an officer at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the British Army, joined the Canadian Army and later worked as a United Nations peacekeeping observer and Canadian Foreign Service diplomat. On May 1, 2010, Adams was honored with the Governor General’s Award – Lifetime Artistic Achievement for his 30 years of contribution to the arts. In August 2024, Adams launched his own record label under the name Bad Records and released a double A-side single “War Machine”/”Rock and Roll Hell”.
