Atishi Marlena Chief Minister of Delhi
Atishi was born on 8 June 1981 in a Rajput-Punjabi mixed family to Delhi University professor Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi. Her parents gave her the middle name ‘Marlena’. Which according to the party is a mixture of Marx and Lenin.
In January 2013, Atishi became involved in policy-making when she began working with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a social movement that had emerged from the political crisis. She is a member of the Political Affairs Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party and is the Minister of Education, Public Works Department (PWD), Culture and Tourism in the Government of Delhi. He served as an advisor to former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia from July 2015 to 17 April 2018, particularly in the field of education.
Atishi is one of two women currently serving as Chief Minister in India, the other being Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal. Atishi was named as the Chief Minister of Delhi at the meeting of Aam Aadmi Party MLAs held at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on 17 September 2024. With this, she became the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi at the age of 43.
