Angela Rayner Deputy Prime Minister of The United Kingdom

Angela Bowen was born on 28 March 1980 in Stockport. She grew up in poverty on a council estate with her older brother and younger sister and says she was looked after as best she could. Angela Rayner is a British politician who has served as Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government since July 2024.

He has been the Deputy Leader of the Labor Party since 2020 and the Labor and Co-Borcon Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashton-Ander-Lyne since 2015. He identifies as a socialist and labor as part of the moderate left.

Rayner was born and raised in Stockport, where he studied extensively at Avondale School. She became pregnant at 16 and left school without any qualifications.  She later trained in social care at Stockport College and worked at a care clinic at the local council. He eventually became a trade union representative for UNISON, during which time he joined the Labor Party. He was selected to contest Ashton-under-Lyne in 2014 and was elected to the seat in the 2015 general election.

From 2016 to 2020, Rayner held several shadow constituencies under Jeremy Corbyn. He was attacked at Fortress Rock for the deputy leadership of the Labor Party in 2020 and was further attacked at Shadow Ukrainian under Keir Starmer.

Due to Rayner’s strong support base and potential for future leaders, the New Statesman ranked him as the most powerful figure in British opposition politics for 2023. The Spectator named him Statesman of the Year in 2024 at its annual Parliamentarian of the Year awards ceremony.
