Alysha Newman Paris Olympic 2024
Newman’s first sport was gymnastics, which she had to give up at age 13 after suffering a lower back injury. After staying away from sports for a year and considering ice hockey and diving, she chose track and field, and a coach directed her to vault because of her background in gymnastics. She attended Mother Teresa Secondary School in London, Ontario.
In 2013, Newman joined Eastern Michigan University, becoming the Mid-American Conference champion and competing in the NCAA Tournament.
