Alain Fabien Maurice Marcel Delon was a French actor and producer. Recognized as a cultural and cinematic leading figure of the 20th century, Delon emerged as one of the finest European actors of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Her style, looks and roles made her an international icon, giving her lasting popularity.
Delon has received awards at prestigious ceremonies and has been honored repeatedly throughout his career. In 1985, he won the César Award for Best Actor for his performance in Notre Histoire (1984). In 1991, he became a member of the Legion of Honor of France. He won the Honorary Golden Bear Award at the 45th Berlin International Film Festival. He received the Honorary Palm d’Or Award at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
In January 2024, Delon was reported to be in poor health and living a reclusive lifestyle at his La Brulérie estate in the Duchy. Delon died “peacefully” on 18 August 2024 at his home in Douchi in the presence of family members.
